'Carnivorous Plants’ guitar-work often feel less about the sounds that can be wrought from the instrument and more about the thing itself, the actual object in the players hands; the vibrating, rattling, creaking, scraping conglomeration of metal, wood and electricity being manipulated with a combination of curiosity - I wonder what happens when I do THIS?! - and sensitivity. There is a physicality present and, while there are very few discernible melodies; hardly any notes, let alone songs, there are exciting and playful auditory experiences to be had across these six tracks, and the exploration of the possibilities of the guitar that exist outside of its potential as just a melodic or harmonic device.’ Charlie Miles
